From the Head Down

Much of what we do in our Christian life comes from what we are taught through the Bible, discipleship, mentoring and our Pastors at our home churches. We learn what is important and essential in our life and then we are to go out and apply it to our life/ministry/business.

One of the things we have been seeing recently is the busyness of women today. Our to-do-lists are never ending, the demands on us as wives/mothers/business owners seem to be over consuming our life. We have lost the vision of what is important as a woman of God, a Christian woman.

If our Pastors/teachers are not teaching the value, importance and need for accountability and mentoring we will tend to put it on the “if I have time” or “if it is convenient” lists. We have been seeing so many women look at this part of their life as an extra if it fits the schedule, instead of making it a priority in their life.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV

God designed us to gather together to build each other up, to encourage each other and to sharpen each other as Christians.

“Iron sharpens iron,
and one man sharpens another.”
Proverbs 27:17 ESV

As we come together to be accountable, learn from the word we are made stronger in our faith. We were not meant to run this thing called life alone with a massive busy schedule.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
Matthew 18:20 ESV

If we are in God’s word daily we should have a desire for more, a desire to connect to other like-minded women…instead of trying to do this all on our own.

What does your day look like?

Where is God in your day, an after-thought or do you start the day with him?

Are you accountable?

Are you filled with excuses and a self-created busy schedule that is out of balance?

Ladies are you too busy to commit to your personal spiritual growth? Please ask God to show you in your heart the why it is so important for you to be in fellowship and accountable. There is power in finding a place of priority for this in your life. Something I heard the other day, “well if my Pastor does not teach it then it must not be essential or important.” Girls that is the farthest thing from the truth! I really think some of our churches today are missing it here, they focus on the programs for the kids, the sports and the fun stuff…then neglect the discipleship.

Time to change that girls…at least in your own life. The Bible is not a suggestion book ladies, it is the breath of God giving us true direction to live this thing we call life here. And His words are telling us that it is important even if the Pastor is not teaching it.

Ask God today to show you what you are missing, then be willing to make the necessary changes to make the main thing, the main thing again…God FIRST!
