I hear so many women talk about how they are struggling with their life.

Some are struggling with stress, fatigue, illness while others struggle more on the spiritual levels.

God designed us to Thrive girls not just survive!

“I made you to thrive like the plants in the field, and you grew, matured and became very beautiful.”
Ezekiel 16:7a

Why do we struggle?

Sometimes our circumstances can derail us from thriving if we are not careful. You see our tendency when a trial or challenge comes our way is to shut down. What God really wants us to do is run to Him with our arms stretched out and allow God to carry us through the circumstances/trials. We just have to stop and remember God has us covered!

One of the easiest ways we can thrive is by spending more time with the Lord.

Ask yourself today, “am I spending time with God each day?”

If we do not have more of God in our life, we cannot thrive!

Can you believe it is fall upon us already?

During Morning Minutes (the Healthy Mindset Cafe Facebook page Live recordings) we have been talking about the “why” we should keep ourselves healthy.

A few reasons why God wants us to be healthy, fit and well (notice I did not say skinny):

  • We should be Glorifying God (1 Corinthians 10:31)
  • We need to take care of our bodies as they are the temple of God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
  • We need to be a good witness to others (Acts 1:8)
  • We will have more energy to do what God has called us to do (Ephesians 2:10

And I know what you are saying now…where do I start? What do I do? Can I even handle this?

  • You start today
  • Identify areas that are weak in your health and start there
  • You can do this with baby steps

You see sometimes it is as simple as eating less fast food and more veggies. Other times maybe it is getting your body to stop

craving sugar and other foods that may cause you to feel sluggish or ill. It could be just eating smaller meals or eating consistently.

If we take care of our bodies, our heath we can accomplish so much more each day. When we feel good physically, mentally falls into place to. Are you ready to THRIVE with your health?

Baby steps:

  • Eat (1) healthy meal a week, then build up to 6 a week. A cheat day is healthy, it will help you stay on track.
  • Drink more water each day, add a glass each day until you are drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces
  • Exercise or movement as I like to call it, add 20 minutes a day…one day at a time
  • Take 10 minute mind rest breaks during the day
  • Start your day with the Lord, even if it is only 10 minutes (it will grow)

This is a great question that ponders in some folks heads, just how important is my attitude in the real world?

According to a Stanford Research Institute report, 87.5% of our success in life comes from our attitude with only 12.5% coming from skill. WOW! 87.5% comes from our attitude, I would say it might be really important to us.

Laughter does a soul good!

Did you know laughter can actually heal your body, spirit and mind?

Laughter is powerful as it releases stress and fatigue in your body. Some have found that laughter can even relieve a headache, tummy ache and mild depression.

When was the last time you laughed…I mean a good belly laugh?

The Bible tells us:

“A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22

Sometimes a good laugh can be had just watching a short video on social media or reading a funny quote. Here are some places/ways you can have a good laugh:

  • A funny movie
  • Lunch or coffee with girlfriends
  • A funny book
  • Watching your dogs or cats
  • Watching young children
  • Burning dinner (yes, I laugh when it happens so I don’t cry)

What are your favorite things that make you laugh?

Sometimes life is so consuming and stressful we truly need that comedy break even for a brief moment. Next time you are stressed out find something to laugh about and see how different you feel.

What is our visual perspective regarding our self?

What do you say to yourself in the morning or even throughout the day?

Would you say those same words to someone else out loud?

We forget our identity is in Christ not in our outward appearance. Plus what we see in the mirror is not what others see. Our minds are so powerful that they can create this false image of our self that causes us to say mean and even hurtful things to our reflection…or maybe just think them!

As women of God we need to start seeing our selves as Jesus sees us not as the world does. You see precious one you are royalty, you are the daughter of a King!

I know for me coming from a place of abuse my mind was and sometimes still is really harsh on myself, I say and think things about me that I would NEVER say or think about another woman. It took a while for a shift in what my mind saw and what my heart saw…personally I trust my heart over my mind.

It took me years of writing post-its and placing them around in the bathroom, my car, wallet and my desk at work that were positive thoughts about myself. Thoughts relating to how others saw me and more importantly how Jesus saw me. I eventually started seeing myself through Jesus’ eyes and not mine.

We need to see our self as Jesus does, if we choose to be negative and harsh on ourselves we are actually taking our eyes off of God and placing the importance on our self. Jesus wants our focus to be on Him, He has it all under control. It is time girls for us to stand and act like daughters of a King!
